February 2001 Tarot Spreads

In honor of St. Valentine's Day, I thought a Soul-Mates spread might be just the ticket.  Then a querent had a dilemma--two swains to choose from (we should all have such problems!).  The Torn Between Two Lovers spread was born--and seemed to demand a February airing.--DW

Soul-Mates Spread by Mark McElroy

This is an eleven card spread I came up with, composed of two five-card structures linked by a central eleventh card. The layout looks like this:

STRUCTURE:

Each five card structure (Cards 1,2,3,4,5 and 6,7,8,9,T) represents one of the two people under consideration as soul-mates. The eleventh card links the two.

While composed of linked crosses, the structure also suggests a lemniscate, or infinity symbol (not bad, considering the nature of soul-mate inquiries).

Numerologically, the eleven-card structure also works in the context of soul-mates:
11 -> 1 + 1 = 2.

POSITIONAL MEANINGS:

1 - (Selected or Random) - Person A
2 - Subconscious manifestations of linkage to Person B
3 - Past events revealing or related to the linkage to Person B
4 - What is meant to be realized or learned from Person B
5 - How the relationship with Person B will ultimately change or challenge Person A

6 - (Selected or Random) - Person B
7 - Subconscious manifestations of linkage to Person A
8 - Past events revealing or related to the linkage to Person A
9 - What is meant to be realized or learned from Person A
10 - How the relationship with Person A will ultimately change or challenge Person B

E - The essential Karmic Link between A and B, exploring the reason why the two are being brought together in this lifetime; alternatively (if querent is missing or unable to find a soul mate), what obstacle prevents this
connection from being made.
